Field eryngo

This perennial, wild growing and rare plant species in Poland is associated with dry and well-sunny habitats, such as xerothermic grasslands. Field eryngo bloom in July and August. The species belongs to the so-called steppe runners - when the fruits are ripe, the entire plant withers so that it can be easily torn from its roots by the wind. Due to its spherical shape, it can be rolled with the wind, sometimes for long distances, and scatter seeds around.
